The Gotcha Covered Experience: Turning Problems into Opportunities
The Gotcha Covered Experience: Turning Problems into Opportunities

Gotcha Covered Brampton’s design consultant and owner, Phil Croteau was working with her new client, Harold, to select window treatments for 6 windows and a patio door in his home. During their consultation, Phil helped Harold determine he was looking for privacy and light control as well style in his window treatments.

With his functionality needs established, Phil walked Harold through the window treatment options which would meet his needs and stay within his budget. They decided Dual Shades, a roller shade with a line of fabric and a line sheer all built into one cassette would be the best option for his windows.

After deciding the type of window treatment, it was time for Harold to look through fabric samples to choose the color and pattern of the fabric part of the shade. While looking through the fabric samples, Harold knew he found “the one” as soon as he saw it.

To better fulfill Harold’s need for light control, Phil suggested adding a blackout shade. Harold agreed and Phil handed off the order to Lor-Lea, Phil’s partner, and wife. As she began to process the order with the manufacturer, MaxxMar, Lor-Lea discovered an issue which would most likely cause Harold much sadness: the fabric Harold chose, which had limitations due to length and pleating, would not allow the entire shade to be housed in one cassette.

Lor-Lea did not approach this as a problem, but more of an opportunity. She knew Harold love the fabric he chose and she wanted to make sure he got what he really wanted. Because his windows had great depth, Lor-Lea knew she could find a solution, but she was not certain it would work. She called Harold and asked if he would be agreeable to installing the window treatment on just one window, to test her theory. He agreed and Lor-Lea placed the order.

Once the finished treatment arrived from MaxxMar, Phil installed it on one of Harold’s windows. The treatment looked and performed perfectly! The rest of the window treatments were ordered and installed and Harold was quite happy.
